All the Rage: The Striped Boatneck Shirt

One part beatnik, one part jolly roger, and one part nautical for a bit of WASP, the striped boatneck tee is classic and edgy all at once.  It made a comeback this past spring, and I think we have hit full-on rage status.  How do I know this?

1. The striped tee is seen on seven different people in New York Magazine's Fall Fashion Issue that just hit the stands.

2.  Last night at dinner I was one of three girls in the back dining room of Mekong in Soho wearing one (all different takes on the general style, so you know these are being sold everywhere).

Even though you can find these shirts in everything from sequins (J. Crew) to lace (Erin Fetherston), I found my favorite to date at Esprit this past weekend.  The thick knit, exposed back zipper, and button closure to roll the sleeves adds the perfect luxe touches to make this sweater look much more expensive than its $50 price tag.  Get on this!
