Left Coast

I fought it for 28 years.  I don't know why I had a chip on my shoulder towards Los Angeles, but I had absolutely no desire to travel there.  Maybe it was too much paparazzi poopoo on Perez Hilton, or one too many episodes of the original 'Housewives' or The Hills/Laguna Beach.  Whatever stereotypical Paris Hilton circa 2002 view I had of the place did nothing but annoy me.  Now I'm gonna eat my piece of humble pie.  I've been in Southern California twice for work this summer, and I'd lie if I didn't admit to taking quite a liking to it.  Weather = amazing.  Food = how I wish I could eat in NYC all the time.  Architecture & interiors = a breath of fresh air coming from stuffy, over accessorized, Elle Decor obsessed NYC.  Not to say I'll be packing up the tenement and going back to Cali, but it's always nice to have a few little slices of heaven to slip away to every now and then.

LA Design Mart's Fall Furniture Sample Sale

Mark your calendars Los Angelenos!  The L.A. Mart Design Center is hosting its Furniture Sample Sale this coming weekend.  If you know anything about design centers, this is where the serious goods are: The ones that are normally only available to interior designers and wind up gracing the pages of Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Arch. Digest, etc.  Good news is that this sale is open to the public, and you can find amazing furnishings, rugs, lighting, art and accessories at up to 70% off.

Reporting Live from Chateau Marmont!

Late, breaking news!  Sure I love watching Live from the Red Carpet and the Oscar telecast, but how would you like to get the dish before the dishers get the dish?  Four of my besties will be staying at the Chateau Marmont this weekend in Los Angeles.  Yes, that right....the most coveted hotel in all of LA is sure to be bursting at the seams with movie stars and all the 'Who's Who of Being Fabu' in town for Oscar festivities.  Two have even wrangled invites to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, so who knows what beans they will spill!  I have turned over the keys to the Shitty-Chic castle so they can mobile upload, status update, and tweet their hearts out via the Shitty-Chic Facebook fan page and Twitter @ShittyChic.  Wheels up for my crew at EWR...Chateau here they come!
